Alpina tuned cars and Alpina photos and wallpapers

Alpina is a make of cars manufactured by the Alpina Burkard Bovensiepen GmbH. The company has its headquarters in Bavaria, Germany, but most of the cars are models based on BMW automobiles, so amny Austin photos will look like BMW cars.

The starting point of the Alpina Bovensiepen company was back in 1965, bearing the name of the father of the founder, Bukard Bovensiepen. At the beginning, the company intended to do office machinery, and the Alpina typewriters were a huge success. However, then the company wanted to re-profile in textiles, and this was a huge mistake, corrected only when they started to tune the BMW cars. This step was an important one, and they also started making cars, which were successful as well. Back in the 1960s and the 70s the Alpina cars took part in numerous competitions and they have also won the European Touring Car Championship in 1970, which paved a flourishing way for the Alpina brand name. But the company still had to solve one problem: that of high oil consumption, as compared to BMW, the Alpina cars burned a lot more. So, along came the B2 3.0 S, which was a low consuming model. The company became also the largest tuning company in Europe back in the 80s.

Some early models of Alpina include the Alpina B10 Sedan, which resembles the BMW E 28, E 34 and E 39. The B3 sedan was also a great model, based on the BMW E 36. The latest models of Alpina autos are the Alpina D3 Bi-Turbo Coupe, which is based on the E 92 BMW. This model is also available as a sedan. Then, there is also a B3 Bi Turbo, based on the BMW E 90, plus the Alpina B6s Coupe/Cabriolet, which resembles the BMW 6 series.
