If you think of the name Daewoo it might not mean more than a car brand, but it actually means Great Universe in Korean. The company was founded in 1967 by Kim Woo Jung, a wealthy man in Korea . The history of Daewoo entangles along the history of South Korea and the crisis that the country went through was also felt by the Daewoo company. Also, the founder, Kim Woo Jung got to make a lot of money, but lose a lot also, and he decided to do some fraud which has resulted in him going to prison. All these affected the Daewoo company, however, it is still considered a powerful force in the automobile manufacturing business. The company was under General Motors, but is presently under Tata Motors, a big Indian company.
